Prozign designed this new parking garage and pedestrian passageway plaza that connects the East Campus to the West Campus of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
This seven-level parking garage has approximately 1.2 million sq ft. and room for 3,800 cars. The design for the garage is user-friendly because it exposes motorists to the maximum number of parking spaces as they circulate between levels in the garage. The 60-foot wide pedestrian passageway with gently sloping floors connects the garage and West Campus to both the main campus and Kyle Field football stadium. The passageway was designed to accommodate the surge-type demands that exists at the conclusion of major events, and up to 24,000 pedestrians can exit in a 30-minute period following special events.
Because the passageway passes beneath a five-lane major thoroughfare and railroad tracks, it provides a safe and convenient route both day and night for students traveling from one campus to another.
